Questions about how to use finger loops? Need help attaching a finger loop to the wand string? Having trouble with the finger loop swivel or o-ring?
Here are some tips to help get your flow-wand working perfectly.
How to use the finger loop:
- The black mesh loop is the finger loop. Here's a photo where you can see the finger loop in action.
- The finger loop will adjust to fit the size of your finger, and your hand should hang an inch or two above the top of the wand.
- We now attach the o-ring to the finger loop, so the o-ring would be less likely to get lost by accident.
You can find swiveled finger loops on our website here: http://www.flowtoys.com/swivelled-finger-loop/
Attaching the finger loop to the wand string - two different ways:
Our preferred method is using a knot-loop as shown in the photo below:
We use a loop-knot to attach the string to the swivel for several reasons, including:
- it prevents the knot in the string from being exposed and catching your skin during some techniques
- it prevents the knot from catching in the hole
- it keep the knot hidden so it is not visually distracting
- it make it easy to swap out the handle or convert to long-string
An alternative method is to string through the swivel loosely as shown in the photo below:
This method could be used for a couple reasons, including:
- it enables the swivel to slide on the string for some niche techniques (if you require this, then loose-string is for you!)
- it enables the string to shift in the hole so it does not wear out in one spot. That said, our string is so durable, and hole so smooth, that it basically never wears out ;)
Wand string twisting during use? Check out the tips below:
The string should not be getting twisted during use. If the string is twisting, it's probably due to an issue with the finger loop swivel.
Here's information on how to clean the swivel that may help resolve the issue: https://flowtoys2.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000193829-troubleshooting-my-swivels-are-not-turning-smoothly
If you clean the swivel and it's still not spinning freely it is most likely defective :(

- If your o-ring/band happens to break, it will not affect the way the wand performs. The band does not have to be installed on your finger loop, and for many years we did not attach it that way.
- If the band is not attached to your finger loop as displayed, an easy place to keep it safe is by slipping it over the top of the wand, so it doesn’t get lost. → This also makes it easy for you to tuck your finger loop under the band when you are stowing your wand.
- When you play with your wand, it’s important to know there is a top and a bottom . The end with the flowtoys sticker is the bottom :) → Having the band on the top of your wand is also an easy way to identify the top from the bottom during play.
