If you'd like to get a pair of smithy or FPC knob leashes with the cord connectors already installed, we offer them on our site here: https://flowtoys.com/products/knobleash-w-cord-connectors?_pos=1&_sid=53f11fe9e&_ss=r&variant=46723121578153

If you have cord connectors already and would just like to swap the cord, we have instructions on how to do that below.

INSTALLING 6MM SMITHY CORD ONTO CORD CONNECTORS

  • Tape and melt the tip of the cord (to prevent fraying). Push and twist the cord to help thread it through the connector.
  • Slide a washer onto the end of the cord (you can use pliers to help pull it through).

Note: Smithy cord needs a washer to secure the leash to the connector. FPC rope does not require washer.

  • Tie a simple overhand knot below the washer – don’t tighten it yet! Check and confirm how long you’d like your leashes to be.
  • Once you find your ideal length, tighten the knot, and trim off excess cord with a pair of scissors, leaving 1/8” or 3mm extra to melt.
  • Using a small flame, melt the end of the cord until it reaches the surface of the knot and use a flat metal surface to press the melted end into the sides of the knot, fusing it together and ensuring it cannot come undone! (the side of a lighter works great :)
  • Snug the washer up against the knot.

If you have vision props, the knot must fit in the connector recess to ensure it doesn’t interfere with the vision core.

INSTALLING 10MM FPC ROPE ONTO A CORD CONNECTOR

  • Tape and melt the tip of the cord (to prevent fraying). Push and twist the cord to help thread it through the connector.
  • Once you find your ideal length, trim off excess cord with a pair of scissors, leaving 1/8” or 3mm extra to melt.
    • be sure to tape around the section of the cord you will be cutting through to prevent the FPC rope from fraying!
  • Melt the tip of the cord to seal the end, remove the tape.
  • Proceed to melt the tip of the cord even further - once it starts to melt/bubble, remove the flame and shape the end into a flat disc shape to prevent it from pulling back through the cord connector.
