All capsule light batteries are rechargeable li-ion batteries and have a lifespan of about 2-3 years (200-300 charge cycles), though many capsule batteriess have been known to last much longer. Li-ion batteries do 'age' over time, regardless of usage or charge frequency.
Please note: factors such as temperature and storage condition can degrade the battery as well.
A good battery will last over 2 hours in bold mode (page 1 mode 3) - you can do a runtime test to check if your battery is still holding a charge. Be sure to give your light a full overnight charge before doing the runtime test!
