To replace the rope on your glitterbombs, here's what to do:
You will need:
- your new rope
- washers that fits your leash snugly
- needle nose pliers
- a lighter
If your rope does not melt, you may want to pick up an epoxy plug kit from our friends at Flow on Fire.
If your new rope does melt, you can follow along below :)
- First you need to remove your old cord.
- DO NOT CUT, or you are going to have a piece of rope and washer rolling around in your glitterbomb sphere forever.
- We use the "no slit" method to construct our glitterbomb poi to ensure their longevity and to avoid your ball "pacman-ing".
- To remove: In a seated position, place the ball of your glitterbomb between your feet and grab the tether, now pull.
- Your goal is to pull the washer out of the ball, and this will happen when the ball has stretched from your pull, thereby opening the hole at the top.
- You will need a bit of strength, but it should pop right out.
- Leash size: If you are increasing the thickness of your leash, you will need to enlarge the hole to "very slightly smaller" than your new rope diameter.
- To enlarge the hole, use a sharp drill bit, and try to avoid "cracking" the edges of the hole. A perfectly round hole will have the greatest chance of lasting for years and years.

- Slide the washer onto the rope, and then melt the end to form a solid puck.
- Grip one side of the washer with needle-nosed pliers and shove it through the hole sideways with great force.
Pro tip: If you push the top on the ball down toward its center, and then past the "equator", the tether hole will actually get larger.
If you are struggling: Lubricating the hole with something greasy like lip-balm or petroleum jelly may help.
That's it! Re-install your handles and make sure you like your new weight ratio and length and get back in the flow!
If you got thicker rope, you may want to add some washers to your handle to help balance out the feel. Happy spinning :)
