If you'd like to attach 6mm smithy cord to a swiveled handle (e.g. capsule handles, floop handles, swiveled knob handles), here are step-by-step instructions/photos:
Note: This is for ~6mm cord. 10mm FPC rope is too thick/dense to fit our swivels.
- Step 1: Wrap masking tape around the tip of the smithy cord to prevent it from fraying when cut
- Step 2: Trim off the end your taped smithy cord leash
- Step 3: Use a lighter to lightly melt the end so it has a flat, solid end and then remove the tape
- Step 4: Thread the flattened end of the smithy cord through the large welded o-ring and the swivel ring
- Step 5: Thread the cord back through the welded ring
- Step 6: Carefully melt a 1/8th inch section at the end of the cord until it starts to bubble and form it into a ball shape using the flat edge of the pliers
- Step 7: Pull the cord tight and you're ready to flow! We've included a photo of the melted end and welded ring/swivel connection below
