The flowtoys connect app V 1.4 is up on the app stores as of early November 2024.

This update includes lots of bug fixes, reliability improvements, improved UI, and major update to adding audio to shows —> local audio file loading!

v1.4 release notes:

  • Improved bridge and prop connection flow
  • Improved signal redundancy for modes, controls and show playback
  • Fixed “save to prop’s page 4” (save directly to in-prop favorites) now includes both adjust values
  • Too many misc. bug fixes to mention, including Android and iOS specific bugs
  • Now works on iOS as old as 10.0! This means devices as old as 2013! Eg. iPhone 5S, iPad mini 2, or iPad 4th gen
    • Tested on an iPad mini 3: The interface is a bit slow but the flowtoys app works well! The old iOS and browser does not support many modern apps or websites, so there’re very limited ways to get music directly through the iPad, but you can airdrop/transfer files from other devices easily and use those in the flowtoys app. The audio waveform even processed and loaded quickly :)
  • Now works on Android OS as old as 10.0!This means devices as old as 2019. Let us know if you wish we could push it further back and we just might :)
  • Removed “saturation” parameter form controls menu to reduce noise and confusion (it’s a global setting, so it effects all modes, and is easy to loose track of as you navigate the app). Back-door to saturation and other parameters: select any show: show editor: double-click any mode to edit: adjust any parameter: "save as”: save to list. NOTE not all parameters can save to prop favorites.
  • Added local audio/music file loadingfor show creation, removed YouTube song loader: To comply with Digital rights management (DRM) regulations, we can no longer enable loading songs directly from streaming services. Fair enough, we want artists to get compensated for their work! unfortunately there isn’t a practical way to handle it well, so you need to obtain an audio file for anything you want to play through the app.
    • There are many free and paid services that provide music files including from links to songs on Spotify, YouTube etc. google it. You take full responsibility for the legality of your use.
    • Once you have an audio file in your device’s files folders you can navigate to it or search for it by name in the app.
    • FYI: You would need the appropriate rights to use a song in a public performance to avoid a fine in any situation where it might be enforced, eg. a high-profile televised show.

How to tell if you have the current version 1.4: the first option in the app menu is “connect props”.
