If you'd like to make your coral props heavier, we have an option for you - injecting water into the coral ball :)
A 60cc syringe with a 22 gauge needle works great. The is small enough that the hole seals itself well enough that you can barely squeeze water out of it afterwards if you try. Though it does take some time to push all the water through so squeeze patiently.
With the 60cc syringe you can measure out exactly how much water/weight you'd like to add.
We recommend injecting through the center of one of the cells near the hole by where the leash goes, but outside the ring of the inner tube, so the water goes inside. Leave a capsule on inside to see what’s happening :)
Do note, the water can slosh around in the ball during use, for interesting and mostly good effects:
- Spinning: During “spinning” it is not felt at all
- Stalls: The water actually improves stalls, absorbing some of the movement and stabilizing them.
- Tosses: seems to have no effect (besides the extra weight)
- Catches and wraps: You can feel the water slosh, but if you like he water, it feel fun and endearing :)
- Contact rolls: The water can cause wobbles you can feel during contact rolls, but it does not throw it off enough to cause visible errors.
Most people love the feel of the water in coral poi :D But it can also be easily removed by sucking it out with the syringe (do NOT try to use the same hole, it may make it bigger and jagged)
You can also adjust the air pressure using a the syringe with air, but silicone is actually air-permeable (it makes terrible balloons!) and will equalize over 1-2 days.
Hope that helps and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
