The length to consider when choosing a dragon staff is the playable shaft length. You'll want the shaft length to be the distance from the ground to around your mouth/nose. Dragon heads at the end can add extra length, which is also important to consider, because the bigger and longer the heads, the more unwieldy your dragon staff can get.
Shorter shaft: Less playable length will make it more challenging to manipulate the staff.
Longer shaft: the staff will be heavier and have the potential to wobble or bounce as the weight is focused at each staff end.
Note: The trikon and pop'n flow hubs add ~5" to the overall staff length since they extend beyond the tip of the shaft (see photo below). You'll still want to size the dragon staff based on the shaft length rather than the overall length.
