Nimbus grip is a great option for all types of staffs, especially dragons, and many folks love it because of its durability, thickness and soft/squishy feel.
When sold as a kit, the grip still has is “factory surface” from the molding process that fairly smooth and can become less grippy over time.
The grip can be increased by removing the outer surface and exposing the foam texture underneath, and further texturing it by sanding it with sandpaper. This can be done repeatedly over time as needed. It is so durable we have never seen it wear out, and you can be very aggressive with the sanding. We recommend 60-80 grit sandpaper.
You can rub it aggressively by hand until it is textured as desired. An electric random-orbit sander works great, just be careful not to let it spin, and do NOT use a belt sander or rotary sander!
